What is the World Championship Cheese Contest?

The World Championship Cheese Contest® is the world’s premier technical cheese, butter, and yogurt competition. 2018 marked the 32nd biennial edition, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association. We invite you to submit your quality cheeses, butters, and yogurts to the contest to compete for global recognition.

When is the World Championship Cheese Contest?

The World Championship Cheese Contest is held biennially in March. The next WCCC will be March 3 -5, 2020 in Madison, Wisconsin.

When can I enter the World Championship Cheese Contest?

Entry information will be available in October 2019. Online entry will be open November 2019. For reference, find entry information for the 2018 World Championship Cheese Contest in the 2018 Contest Entry Kit.

How does the judging work?

Entries are evaluated by a team of skilled technical judges from all over the world. Starting from a maximum possible 100 points, deductions are made for various defects found by each judge.
Defects are noted in the areas of flavor, body and texture, salt, color, finish, packaging and other appropriate attributes. A Gold medal, Silver medal and Bronze medal are awarded to the three highest scoring entries in each class.

Can I attend the Contest?

The Contest judging is open for free public viewing on March 6 and 7, 2018 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Thursday evening, March 5, we host a ticketed event, Cheese Champion, to announce the World Champion.  Further details and tickets will be available December 2019.

When do entries need to arrive by?

Entries are to be sent to WOW Logistics Warehouse in Little Chute, Wisconsin, USA.
Shipment details and instructions will be sent to entrants once entry closes.
If you used MyEntries to submit your products to the Contest, shipping tags are auto-filled with your product information in your account.
Find the “Print Your Shipping Tags” button.
Note: each entry should be sent in its own box with a shipping/ identification tag on the outside and another on the inside.

Do I send our product with or without labels?

You may send your products in their original packaging, with or without labels.
Gold, silver and bronze winners will be displayed at the International Cheese Technology Expo.

How do I get my scoresheets after the judging is complete?
Scoresheets are available in your secure MyEntries account as soon as judging is complete.  Just login to your account and click on View Your Results and Scoresheets.  You can then view and print your scoresheets.

If we won, how do we receive our awards?

The World Championship Cheese Contest hosts the awards banquet at the International Cheese Technology Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 16, 2020. Winners receive one ticket to the banquet for each gold, silver or bronze winning product.
Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association will send out an email to all winners with instructions on registration. WCMA will also ask if your company is attending the banquet, if you plan to not attend, we will ship your awards directly to you.
